Exam Bank

Exam Bank is an application which aims at making the process of forming exams effective and smooth for schools.

Lecturers or teachers assemble an unlimited number of questions in this application and just whne it's to formulate an exam paper they just select the questions they want to appear on it. The rest of the process is handled by the Exam Bank, including formatting.

This exam bank hosts examination questions for all courses offered at a learning institution. Lecturers or teachers will be able to select questions for any course from this bank and print them out in a properly formatted and well-labelled exam paper.

When a lecturer wants to produce an exam paper, they will login to the system and choose the course for which they want to generate the exam paper. Under this course, they will select their desired objectives or topics, one-by-one, and choose the questions to be administered for each.

Once this is done, the system will create a well-formatted exam paper containing basic details of the course and the questions which the lecturer chose for each objective. On a separate page will be printed the answers (mark scheme) for each of the questions included on the exam paper. Furthermore, this page will also indicate the course objectives/topics for which questions have been formulated, indicating the number of questions for each objective/topic.

Advantages of the Exam Bank

1. Convenience:
Since abundant questions for each course and objective are already available, the school or lecturers does not have to be under pressure when the time to form exams comes.

Secondary, lecturers won’t have to trouble themselves with formatting each exam paper as the formatting is handled by the system.

2. Syllabus/Course outline Coverage:
Sometimes lecturers may not cover the whole syllabus of a course. Hence when forming exam questions they tend to be selective on which questions to ask, leaving out the objectives which weren’t covered in class. With the Exam Bank, however, lecturers will be compelled to cover the whole syllabus, knowing that it will be easy for exam reviewers to see which objectives have been covered and the number of questions that have been administered for each objective.

3. Enforcing high examination standards:
The school will institute a certain period during which lecturers should formulate a specified number of questions for each of their course(s). This period will, ideally, be on holidays or anytime when lecturers are not very busy with classes. This will help lecturers to fully concentrate on the exercise of forming the questions, thereby ensuring that the questions formulated are precise, tied to course objectives, and of high standards.

4. Possibility to tell students what to expect:
In some schools in countries such as Russia, students are told at the beginning of the semester all the questions which they should expect in an exam for each course. If a course has 360 questions, for example, all of these are given to students to practice. During an exam, only a limited number o f questions e.g. 50 (out of the 360) are administered. This helps students to be more focused during their studies.
